Finally Arrived at ISS Korean-American Johnny Kim: "This is Space" [Now in Space]

At 8:30 PM on the 8th (Korean time), the Soyuz spacecraft carrying Korean-American Jonny Kim docked with the International Space Station (ISS), opened its hatch, and greeted the astronauts on board.



At 2:47 PM, the Soyuz spacecraft (Soyuz MS-27) was launched from the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan. A total of three people, including Jonny Kim and two Russian astronauts, were on board this manned spacecraft.



They docked to the ISS that day, opened the hatch at 8:30 PM, and greeted the astronauts on board.



Jonny Kim hugged his ISS colleagues as he made his second appearance on the Soyuz.

These three astronauts will stay on the ISS for about eight months before returning to Earth in December, performing missions such as scientific research.



Meanwhile, Johnny Kim, born in Los Angeles, California in 1984, enlisted in the Navy right after graduating from high school. After completing Navy SEAL training, he was deployed to various sites.

Johnny Kim received benefits from the U.S. military's educational support program and entered the University of San Diego. He majored in mathematics, graduated with honors, and entered Harvard Medical School. He completed pilot training in the Navy and is a Navy fighter pilot and flight surgeon.



On the 19th of last month, Johnny Kim participated in an online interview hosted by NASA and said, "There is a lot of work that goes into carrying out all space missions, so just contributing to such space missions is very meaningful."
