'AI Smart Glasses' Global Shipments Up 210% Last Year

As demand for smart glasses with artificial intelligence (AI) functions skyrockets, there are predictions that other big tech companies, including Samsung Electronics, will also enter the AI ​​smart glasses market.

According to market research firm Counterpoint Research on the 27th, global smart glasses shipments last year increased by 210% year-on-year.



Smart glasses are a type of wearable device that is worn like glasses to take pictures and use display functions.



In particular, Meta's Ray-Ban AI glasses have sold more than 2 million units since their launch in October 2023, accounting for more than 60% of the market.



Counterpoint Research predicted that "leading smartphone companies such as Samsung, Xiaomi, and Transition will be the first to introduce AI smart glasses in 2025," and "more than 100 companies will enter the smart glasses market in the future."



The current AI smart glasses craze is being driven by the fact that △Meta has already proven that an untapped market for AI smart glasses exists, and △many Chinese companies have begun imitating them.



Baidu, China's largest portal site, already released its 'Xiaodu Smart Glasses' late last year. Chinese augmented reality (AR) device startup Rokid plans to begin shipping its smart glasses in the third quarter of this year.



Meta is also planning to release a next-generation product with a display in September of this year, based on the success of its Ray-Ban AI Glasses.
