Riot Games released details about the 'First Stand Tournament (hereinafter referred to as First Stand)', a new international competition established in 2025, on the 25th. First Stand will be held for 7 days from March 10th to 16th at the LCK Arena located in Gran Seoul LoL Park in Jongno-gu, Seoul.

First Stand is an international competition that marks the beginning of LoL esports every year, where the best teams from each region gather and compete. The region that produces the winning team will be provided with one additional seed for the main tournament of the Mid-Season Invitational (MSI) to be held in Canada in July.
'Hanwha Life Esports' from Korea (LCK), 'Team Liquid' from America (LTA), and 'CTBC Flying Oyster' from Asia-Pacific (LCP) have been confirmed to participate. The participating teams from Europe, the Middle East, and Africa (LEC) and China (LPL) will be decided at the end of February. The First Stand, where the top teams from the first splits of the five regions gather together to compete, consists of a round robin stage and a knockout stage.
The round robin stage, which will be held for five days from March 10 to 14, will feature five teams taking turns in a best-of-three series. The selection of the first match of the round robin stage will be randomly determined in advance, with teams being allowed to choose their teams for two matches and not allowed for the remaining two matches. After each team plays four matches, the last-place team will be eliminated, and the top four teams will advance to the knockout stage.
The knockout stage, which will be held on the 15th and 16th, will be a best-of-five single-elimination series. The first-place team in the round robin stage will face the fourth-place team, and the second-place team will face the third-place team. The two teams that win the semifinals will face off in the final on the 16th, and the winning team will be honored with the honorable title of the first champion of the First Stand.
The first split, currently in progress, is being played entirely in a Fearless Draft format. Fearless Draft means that champions used in a previous set cannot be used in the next set, so by the time the final game of the best-of-five series is played, there will be a total of 50 champions banned, forcing teams to hone their skills on a variety of champions, while fans will be able to see unique and diverse compositions.
First Stand is supported by 12 global brands, including AWS, Cisco, HyperX, Mastercard, Mercedes-Benz, Omen, Opera GX, OPPO, Red Bull, Secretlab, Verizon, and the newest addition, Esports World Cup.
