China's TCL, 2% TV market share, close to Samsung's chin

Chinese home appliance company TCL ranked second in global TV shipments last year, closely following Samsung Electronics with a 2% market share difference.



LG Electronics ranked fourth, behind China's Hisense, which ranked third.

According to the 'Global TV Shipment Report' published by market research firm Counterpoint Research on the 27th, Samsung Electronics maintained its first place with a 16% market share, but TCL closely followed Samsung Electronics with a 14% market share. Hisense (12%) and LG Electronics (10%) followed. In



particular, the growth of Chinese companies was notable in the premium market such as OLED and QD LCD.



As Chinese brands intensified their attacks in the premium market, where high growth is expected, Samsung's market share remained at 29%, down 12% from the same period last year.



On the other hand, TCL shipped more than twice as many premium TVs as last year, surpassing LG Electronics and rising to second place in the premium market.

The overall shipment of premium TV models grew by 51% year-on-year, breaking the record high, and recorded 38% year-on-year growth for the year.



In the premium TV market, shipments of mini LED and LCD TVs grew by more than 170% year-on-year, surpassing OLED TV shipments since the second quarter, and QD LCD TVs also grew by more than 46%, exceeding 5 million units for the first time in quarterly shipments.



Korean companies recorded a 53% share of the North American premium TV market in terms of sales last year.



Lee Je-hyeok, a researcher at Counterpoint Research, said, "If the Trump administration's tariff bomb, which has recently become an issue, is implemented, TVs produced in Mexico will also be affected, and in particular, Korean companies that account for a large portion of the North American premium TV market are expected to be greatly affected," and advised, "It is urgent to prepare countermeasures for each situation."
